About the guide
Sofia Arez is a Portuguese artist, researcher, and educator driven by a deep interest in nature and perception. Her work is a constant dialogue and it progresses as a “conversation” between the maker and the spontaneous findings, suggested by the multitude forms of life. Art, for her, is a crucial means of thinking and doing. Arez’s diverse works – in sculpture, drawing, painting, photography, video, and installation – have been exhibited in Europe and Asia. Not limited to the confines of the museum and gallery, her practice engages the society through educational activities and interventions in public space.
Sofia Arez was born in Lisbon in 1972 and holds a master's in Painting by the University of Lisbon.
