Wine With a View at Night at the museum

This year’s International Day of the Museum on Friday (18th of May), created in 1977 by ICOM (International Museum council) to promote museums in today’s society and the European Night of the Museum on Saturday (19th of May) will have about 600 activities (400 on Friday and 200 on Saturday) in all Portugal. There will be free entry for both events in 88 museums, palaces and protected monuments. Click here for more information
To celebrate the European night of the museum, initiative created in 2005 by the French Culture and Communication Minister, museums are preparing special events and activities, such as theaters, dances, concerts, guided tours and many more this Saturday, 19th of May.
This year’s motto is “hyperconnected museums: new approaches, new publics”, encouraging museums to interact with their publics on new levels through innovative technologies, digitalizing their collections, including multimedia elements in the expositions or using a hashtag to promote their collections on social media to make museums more interesting for younger generations.
The Castelo de São Jorge is also participating in this great idea, with musical shows, military arts, historical dances and much more! Of course, Wine With a View will be open for this beautiful night at the castle, with free entry from 8.30 pm until midnight.
You probably won’t run into a tiny Robin Williams or a giant dinosaur skeleton coming alive, but then again, everything is possible at night in the museums and a glass of Wine With a View! Join us this Saturday on what promises to be a magical night and find out for yourself, we will be waiting for you in the Castle of São Jorge! Cheers!
